Choose Wisely
Do the people you hang out with gossip, tear people down, shame others, criticize others, make fun of others, focus on petty things, and always have something negative to say about a person or a situation?
Or
Do they speak faith, life, and hope and exemplify the fruit of the Spirit? Do they discuss big ideas and visions, and are they intentional about helping others? Are they focused on what Jesus would have them to do, or are they more intent on giving another superfluous opinion?
Note to us all: We all have our days when we get into our funks and feel negative, but these should not become a normal way of life. We must rise above negativity!
Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences” (NLT). The Message
Prayer: Dear God, I am guilty of allowing myself to listen to naysayers, gossipers, and pessimistic voices; therefore, I have been a part of the problem But from now on I am putting some clear boundaries in place and will not be taking place in those conversations. I pray that You will help me to speak life even when everything around me is speaking negatively. Help me to rise up against the gossip, division, and hate and to replace it with love, compassion, and words of life to those around me. Amen
